Our 1st official sono with Amy and Richard with me!!

We had such good news on Thursday because I saw the heartbeat at work and got great pics!!  So Amy and Richard met me at Dr M’s and he is so cute!  He is so happy for us!!  I gave him a great big hug and it was so sweet.  He said everything looks great and we go back to see him on the 9th and we will be almost 9w so we’ll really get to see the baby!!  Amy and Richard doesn’t want to know the sex of the baby.  That’s really exciting to me because I’ve never been pregnant with a baby that I didn’t know what the sex was.   I had a really great time being with them.  For me as a surrogate I love love love to be a part and hear about everything the parents and their families think, feel, and do for the baby.  We have already experienced having a child of our own so it so neat when we get to see and experience all the neat things about them and their families going through this pregnancy.  It’s like when your pregnant with your own and all the neat things you look forward to and the daily stuff that happens but when you’re a surro you do all that for the parents not for you and your excited for them and how they respond to all the new things.  It’s not really like living vicariously but I guess just it’s for a crucial part of the process because that is what I look forward to so much, their response and reactions and our relationship throughout the whole experience and beyond.  I’m would think it would be hard for some IP’s to share everything with a 3rd party but that’s really what my family and I want.  I’m so glad I have IP’s that are comfortable with that!!  We loving cherish, protect, and nurture this baby and their families the best we possibly can.  In fact my sister talked to the baby yesterday and said that she prays for it and that we love it.  Every baby needs that and I’m sure if Amy were pregnant she would be doing the same thing as well as her family.  I’m so blessed to be a part of the beginning of a family and being able to provide love to this little one like their parents would.

How your baby’s growing:

The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you’re daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that’s the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.

If you could see inside your womb, you’d spot eyelid folds partially covering her peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of her nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of your baby’s brain are growing, and her liver is churning out red blood cells until her bone marrow forms and takes over this role. She also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in your baby’s growing intestines is bulging into her umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from her tiny body.

How your life’s changing:

Your uterus has doubled in size in the past five weeks, and eating may feel like a chore — or worse — thanks to morning sickness, which by now may be in full swing. (If you’re feeling fine, don’t worry — you’re lucky!)

You may need to pee more than usual, too, thanks to your increasing blood volume and the extra fluid being processed through your kidneys. (By now, you already have about 10 percent more blood than you did before you were pregnant. And by the end of your pregnancy, you’ll have 40 to 45 percent more blood running through your veins to meet the demands of your full-term baby.) As your uterus grows, pressure on your bladder will send you to the bathroom as well.

About half of the women who feel nauseated during the first trimester will find complete relief by about 14 weeks. For most of the rest, it’ll take another month or so for the queasiness to ease up. It’s unlikely, though, that the need to pee more than usual will ease up. In fact, research shows that both the frequency and volume of urine tends to increase over the course of pregnancy

Lil’ Nuggets 1st photo 5w2d

Well I have a great dr friend who took a peek at Lil’ Nugget today and the baby looks just like it should right now.  A beautiful speck!!

We are supposed to have our 1st real one next week and hopefully we can see a heart beat!!

Our 3rd and final Beta.

So I was really worried because the beta should double in 48-72hrs and our did it in 86.  Today was really the day for me in my mind to see how well this little on was working.  I had a great time at church and the message was on prayer and trusting God so it was a perfect message for me!!  I do trust God really but it’s so hard sometimes and I need reminders.  I prayed with my sister and brother-in-law at the altar which was so comforting because I know them and there weren’t any walls and I know every word spoken in prayer to God was full of love!!  (Thanks guys)  So I was repeating all morning that God is enough for me, He is my I AM, and I will trust in Him.  Happy today and it was wonderful.

So Amy got a call about 3:30 and then called me and said “Well we’re still pregnant!”  I said what were the #’s and she said I think it was like 766 or something.  She was currently driving in unfamiliar roads and was trying to pay attention to the road.  I started crying and wish I could have shouted but I was at work.  I was soooooooo relieved!!!  Thank you Jesus!!!  Praise God!!!!

Our beta doubled in 46 hrs which is fantastic!!!  I was busy texting away letting a few close ones know.  It was fun getting responses!!

So we have our 1st baby debut next week 8-23 and then a sono where we will for sure see the heart beat on 9-9.  So excited Amy and Richard are going to have a baby!!!!

I’ll update more next week but here’s a peek into this week for the baby.

Deep in your uterus your embryo is growing at a furious pace. At this point, he’s about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. He’s now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, the mesoderm, and the endoderm — which will later form all of his organs and tissues.

The neural tube — from which your baby’s brain, spinal cord, nerves, and backbone will sprout — is starting to develop in the top layer, called the ectoderm. This layer will also give rise to his skin, hair, nails, mammary and sweat glands, and tooth enamel.

His heart and circulatory system begin to form in the middle layer, or mesoderm. (This week, in fact, his tiny heart begins to divide into chambers and beat and pump blood.) The mesoderm will also form your baby’s muscles, cartilage, bone, and subcutaneous (under skin) tissue.

The third layer, or endoderm, will house his lungs, intestines, and rudimentary urinary system, as well as his thyroid, liver, and pancreas. In the meantime, the primitive placenta and umbilical cord, which deliver nourishment and oxygen to your baby, are already on the job.

How your life’s changing:

You may notice some pregnancy-related discomforts already. Many women report sore breasts, fatigue, and frequent urination starting in the early weeks. You may also have nausea, though it’s more likely to show up in the coming weeks.

The outside world won’t see any sign of the dramatic developments taking place inside you — except that you’re turning down that glass of wine with dinner

Our 2nd beta!!

I’m a little behind sorry.  We had our 2nd beta and it was 126 which the RE said was good.  I read that it should double in 48-72 hrs and ours doubled in 86 so I was worried.  This stuff will make you crazy!!!  So we are doing another beta on Monday which is tomorrow.  You over analyze everything in this situation.  My boobs are sooooo sore and you think is it because of the extra estrogen or because of the baby.  I never get morning sickness so I don’t have that to count on.  Ugh!!  I have settled down in the worry dpt and am trying my best to let God have my worry!!!  My mom reminded me that it’s a sin to worry.  (thanks mom) 🙂  It really is what it is and nothing I do can make it different.  I also started my estrogen pills and the progesterone cream to give my poor hiney a break!!  I recently got 3 vials of progesterone injections so I’ll alternate with one shot in the morning and the cream at night.  This weekend I’ve only done the cream which has been nice!!!!!!!  I’m going to get a massager at the store to get the lumps out.  Man they hurt!!!  So today we are 5w preggo!!!  I’ll update tomorrow probably when I get home about our beta and we have a sono on the 23rd and one on the 9th.

Beta Day

So finally it’s here!!!  Our beta is 86 which is perfect for one little baby in there!!!  We are due April 15th!!!  We are all so excited!!  We have another beta on Wednesday and it should double.  So something around 170.  Really tired so I’m going to bed early but its good!!  My estrogen isn’t staying up so I have to add 2 more patches to equal 8!!!  I’m going to call tomorrow and see if I can do some estrace and try oral progesterone to try to cut down on the trauma on my body.  Of course I’ve used both of those methods before and have done really well with pregnancies so I’m not worried and I know the Dr wouldn’t agree to anything that would harm the baby so there’s no harm in asking 🙂

Comparison (Don’t read Amy and Richard)

Don’t tell Amy and Richard

Here is the comparison from the twins pee sticks and the pee sticks from this cycle.  What do y’all think???  I have had major lumps this cycle!! OUCH!!!  My Dr friend massaged them for me to break up the Progesterone oil pockets that I had that makes lumps.  It helped but that left me with a soreness like someone has frogged me a million times in my butt.   Oh man it was really hard for me to sit down today.  They are getting better and I have the hot rice sock on them for quite a while after my shot.  I love my family.  Ever since we’ve found out about the positives on pee tests my husband would call me when I get up and ask “did you test and was it darker?”  That’s so cute.  They are all so excited for me and Amy and Richard!!!  I can’t wait for beta tomorrow.  So my friend and my daughter thinks it’s twins and now every symptom I think is pregnancy related like I was sooooooo tired today and I felt nauseous later this afternoon which usually only happened with the twins very few times if I remember right.  Ohhhhhhhhh I’m just so excited!!  I can’t wait until tomorrows #.

The ones on top are from the twins and the ones on bottom are from this cycle.

2 days until Beta pregnancy test.

Well my lovelies!!  I have been testing away like a mad woman and I am happy happy happy to report that

Amy and Richard do not want to know about any pee tests.  I understand completely!!  This has been a long hard road for them!!  They have been working at this with blood, sweat, and tears for years!!  So if you have access to them please do not tell them.  They are going to wait for our beta to come back on Monday and the number will tell us how good things are going.  For now I can give you pics of my pee test that I personally think are beautiful!!!  Oh and I got a positive the same day I did when I got a positive with the twins 🙂  Oh and there are several different types of tests in there so that is also a great great sign!!  You look for ones that get darker and that come up on several tests.  Also the digital typically takes more units of HCG in the urine than the other tests do so its so nice to see a digital come up!!!
